I’m not going to lie; I get a little choked up when we make wedding cakes for our country’s servicemen/women. Probably because I’m married to a former one myself. Just as the military itself is a bond like no other, so is the one formed with the spouses. So when Bailey asked us to make her fiancée a special groom’s cake honoring his work, his livelihood, his pride, we did so with great pleasure.
His cake was a hummingbird cake (his favorite) draped with an American flag—all 13 stripes and 50 stars—made from white modeling chocolate. We then hand cut and painted the United States Air Force insignia to stand proudly above it all. Class and elegance, just like our groom.
Speaking of classy, check out their wedding cake. Understated, yet super sparkly. The bottom tier featured layers of buttercream ruffled “flowers” while the top stayed smooth and clean for the rhinestone ribbons. What a perfect combination. Speaking of perfect combinations they had chocolate and buttermilk cakes filled with raspberry buttercream…how mouthwatering. And did you notice our couple cut the cake with the groom’s Air Force sabre? So special! As always, we wish our bride and groom the best and thank you for giving us the honor of making your cakes.
