Ahhh Halloween…such an awesome holiday.  For me, as a kid, it was definitely second best to Christmas.  You get to dress up and get tons of free candy.  Candy vs. presents…well presents still win but it doesn’t mean I don’t love candy!  Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and Sour Patch Kids have always been my favorite.  Nothing with coconut please, I always gave those to my dad.  Anyway, while I’ve haven’t truly celebrated Halloween (and by celebrated I mean trick-or-treating) since I was sixteen, I do love the spirit of the holiday.  The costumes, the laughter of children, the music (Ghostbusters and Thriller anyone?), and despite the fact that I’m a scared-y cat, the movies as well all bring out what we love about Halloween in one form or another.

As decorators, we often do something for Halloween although it’s usually someone’s birthday cake.  This year we had two special orders for Halloween cookies, cakes, and cupcakes.  The cupcakes were going to a kid’s school so we got to have fun with sprinkles, pumpkins, bats, ghosts, and crazy bloodshot eyes. And while it took hours to finish and package all of those cookies (175 plus 60 for our Bakeshop!), Katie and I had a blast getting into the Halloween spirit.

There’s something about Halloween that just brings out the kids in us.  It made me think…what was my favorite costume as a kid?  And while this is embarrassing to admit, it was a tube of Colgate toothpaste that mymom made out of a white sheet, some markers, and a little red felt cap.  Anybody else want to share their favorite costumes?
