Working here at the Bakehouse, it is a required part of the job and a great perk at the same time, to regularly taste the breads, pastries and cakes we bake. In fact, it is a standing agenda item for most of our staff "huddles" and meetings.
We just brought back our Coconut Cream pie for the spring and summer, so we have been tasting it a lot. It quickly became the talk of the Bakehouse. I think we all forgot how good it is, so you probably have too! The buttery crust is filled with a very generous mound of custard made with coconut milk, shredded coconut and real vanilla bean, topped with real whipped cream and more toasted coconut. We think it's really darn good! Stop in and ask for a taste!
