Summertime and the eatin’ is easy

Posted on

Don't worry about what's for dinner tonight, or even doing much cooking for that matter. Enjoy these few short months of longer days while they last. Enjoy all those flowers you planted. Enjoy the taste of summer.

Pick up one of our fresh french baguettes or a round of cornmeal crusted paesano bread, split them, brush them with olive oil and grill them. Sprinkle with a little parmesan cheese or fresh herbs from your garden. Instant yum. Better yet add fresh made mozzarella from our neighbor Zingerman's Creamery.

Try our cool summer soups like Mariska's Cool Cucumber soup (now available) or Fresh Gazpacho (coming in July when the local tomatoes come in). Or heat up a quart of one of our other great soups like new Hungarian Cserke Gombaleves with chicken and mushrooms.

Of course we have dessert more than covered. Sweet Cream Biscuits or Pound cake are the perfect bed for local berries and whipped cream. Simply Rhubarb pie (available until the local rhubarb runs out in mid July) and Country Peach pie (available July 1st) are also great choices for an instant summery treat. Make it even better with some iced coffee from our neighbor Zingerman's Coffee Company.

Enjoy the season. We hope to see you soon.
