Celebrating Moms

Mixing up cake batter at BAKE!

May 8th is just around the corner. That’s Mother’s Day this year. It’s a great reminder each year to celebrate the moms who bring joy to your life- your mom, step-mom, grandma, the mother of your children, whoever it may be. Maybe you’re not much of a planner or maybe you’re looking for an idea to top what you did last year! Either way, we can help! And that means there will surely be scrumptious sweets involved. You can’t go wrong.

Bring brunch to her door! Get it all at Zingerman’s Southside. Here at the Bakehouse we have fresh bagels, scones, and croissants. The Creamery has eggs, smoked salmon, bacon and cream cheese. The Coffee Company has fresh roasted coffee beans, tea and smoothies.
Take her on a picnic to your favorite spot! Stop by the Bakehouse and pick up her favorite pie for dessert: coconut cream, key lime, jumbleberry or pecan.  Don’t forget the flowers!
Sweeten up her morning coffee run! Pick up a Zingerman’s gift card (good at all locations). Make it for a week’s worth of lattes or her favorite drink. Throw in a Zingerman’s travel mug and a sourcream coffeecake for measure. She’ll think of you each morning and get her day off to a good start.
Bake up some memories! Send her to one of our BAKE! classes or better yet join her! We’ll do all the measuring and cleaning up, you just enjoy yourself. How about one of these hands-on baking classes:  Timeless Torte, Coffeecake Craft or Hurray for Challah.
Last minute & super easy! Just drop by the Bakehouse on Mother’s Day (7 AM-6 PM) and put together your own gift of great food… a pretty Zing’casion cake, a loaf of cranberry pecan bread (Mother’s Day weekend special bake), or magic brownies and Zzang! candy bars. If there is something you’ve gotta have, we recommend calling at least two days ahead to reserve.

Enjoy and let us know how it went!

Easter eating is fun…family favorites, pretty pastel colors, candied fruits, and of course chocolate! Here’s a handy shopping list on how to indulge your special guests all day long with great food from Zingerman’s Bakehouse.

Kids wake up to wow in their baskets: hand-made raspberry and coconut marshmallow bunny tails are sure to please.
Don’t miss ‘em: soft and sweet Hot Cross Buns are good to have around all day. You can’t eat just one! Available fresh from the oven after 10 AM, April 21-24th only!
We’ve baked up a better brunch: Kulich, a traditional easter sweet bread with candied orange, vanilla glaze, and toasted almonds. Don’t forget to pair it with sweet cream cheese Pashka, from Zingerman’s Creamery and your favorite brew from Zingerman’s Coffee Company.
Instant festive buffet: decorate with flowery cupcakes, marbled fondant egg-shaped cookies, and our new Easter Bunny cake with chocolate butter cream and a sweet hand-made fondant bunny (pictured here). They’re not just decoration, they’re an incredibly tasty dessert too!
Hug your ham: show it some love with two slices of our newly famous rye bread. Named America’s best rye in this month’s Saveur magazine. We’re still blushing!
Sweet send off: guests won’t want to leave all this good food, unless they head out with an Easter gift box of Zingerman’s Candy Manufactory Zzang! bars under their arm.

Hop on in for tastes or call and place your order today! We’ll be open regular hours Easter weekend, including 7 AM to 6 PM Easter Sunday.

What’s new?

Spring is here at the Bakehouse. Not too warm outside yet, but the flowers are poking up in our courtyard. Inside we’ve got a colorful assortment of cupcakes and birthday cakes complete with hand-made daisies, birds, bumble bees and Easter bunnies. Come by and see them! They’ll surely brighten your day. And don’t forget to taste them too!

Also for spring and summer, we’re making sweet cream biscuits, pound cake, key lime pie, coconut cream pie, and summer fling coffeecake with lime and coconut.

New on Thursdays, we’re baking up extra special focaccia. They’ll be baked in our wood fired oven with special and sometimes local toppings, hot and fresh for lunch time. Give us a call to see what this week’s toppings are or sign up for our enews.
